Tingating is painted in a naïve style. The basis of a Tingatinga consists of several colorful layers of paint on which various themes are painted. Because of the palette of colors that is used, a Tingatinga can transform even the most boring room in your home or office into a cozy and cheerful departure. Our Tingatingas come in various shapes and sizes, and are divided into 5 themes: Masai, Black n White, The Socials, Wildlife n Landscape & Dance.
By ordering a Tingatinga with us you support a good cause. We donate 10% of your purchase to Stichting Kasulu, who support people in Tanzania in following a course (see stichtingkasulu.nl for more information).

What is TingaTinga ?
Tingatinga is a style of painting that originated in the second half of the 20th century in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The name is derived from the founder of this painter, Edward Saidi Tingatinga (1932-1972). Tingatinga is characterized by a colorful, naive and caricature style of painting. The subjects that are painted are often typical (East) African scenes: wild animals, groups of people, village views, Maasai tribe and dances. All of these topics are divided into 7 themes.
Tingatingas are painted on different types of canvases: canvas, cotton and linen. It is painted with oil or wax based.
All our paintings are handmade by our solid painters in Tanzania. That is why all our artworks are unique. Our table runners are also handmade by our fixed seamstress in Tanzania.

Are you looking for decoration for your company, such as hotel rooms, offices, schools or other public buildings, you are also at the right place. We can supply Tingatingas in large numbers. If you order more than 10 Tingatingas at once, it is also possible to pass on your personal preferences, e.g. color, type, theme or size.
